Superbowl Sunday. More food is consumed by American’s on that day than any other day of the year – except Thanksgiving. It’s a crazy cycle really…Thanksgiving, put on the feed bag – and 5 lbs. Christmas, throw in a few parties, lots of drinks a good meal or two – and tack on a few more pounds. New Year’s rolls around and it’s time for a resolution – lose some weight. That goes so well that when Superbowl Sunday shows up, it’s time to reward good behavior with… oh yes, MORE FOOD.
Most of the food consumed on Superbowl Sunday is junk food. Chips, soda (you might call it pop), Cheetos (love ‘em), Doritos (a sucker for ranch flavored), salsas, bean dips, and….TUMS, Maalox, Mylanta and every other acid indigestion medication available.
So, do yourself a favor. This year, plan out a great meal of snacks and delicious food that is DEVOID of chemicals, refined salts and sugars and put on a rare feast that won’t break the bank! Our recommendation? Get one of our DIY Dry Aged Beef Kits, watch our Dry Aging Beef video, pick up about 20 lbs. of good quality chuck roast and dry age it for the next 14-21 days. (If you get started this weekend, it will taste much better.)
Why dry aged chuck? Everybody loves a good burger, sliders are even better and when you make them with dry aged beef…well it just doesn’t get any better than that. What’s more, there is a measure of portion control to be had in the serving of sliders. Make up three different versions complete with buns, additional fixin’s and maybe even a special sauce or three (who says Mickey D’s gets the corner market on special sauces?)
Where do you get the ideas for your SuperAwesome Superbowl Sliders? (Yes, you can call them that, we haven’t trademarked that name…YET!) Visit some local farmers market, talk to some of your favorite vendors, or other foodie enthusiasts. We’ll be waiting for you there, and we will probably share a few recipes for sliders here between now and the big day!
